Futuristic Technology
There has been some development in two advancements lately that could enhance the way that we live and function.
Zoom Contact Lens
Engineering scientists have managed to create a lens that zooms when you blink twice. They have achieved this by measuring electrooculographic signals created by your eye movements and the engineers have made a soft biomimetic lens that responds to the eye movements. This allows the lens to shift focus depending on the signals given by the eye, in this case when you blink twice. The lens does not require sight to work; it just needs electricity generated by the movement. Even if you are visually impaired, the zoom function will still work. Scientists have created the zoomable lens in the hope that the technology will assist in adjustable glass and robotics in the future.
Brain-controlled machines
Elon Musk’s Neuralink unveiled another secretive company that has been developing brain-machine interfaces that could be implanted in those who suffer from paralysis, allowing them to control phones and computers. An advancement so far is that the company has managed to develop a flexible thread that could handle a high volume of data from the brain. Musk’s idea is to create a platform where humans and technology can work as one and eventually could merge with AI.
