CES 2024
For any tech enthusiast, the Consumer Electronic Shows (CES) is like heaven with nearly every major technology company showcasing their state-of-the-art products. Some products are ready to be purchased in the upcoming year, while others are just a small glimpse of the future with concept designs being shown. Here are a few notable tech products that were showcased at CES 2024.
LG Signature OLED T
In the past LG has pushed display technology to the limit with their transparent and rollable displays. This year, LG has unveiled the world’s first wireless transparent OLED TV. The LG Signature OLED T is a 77-inch OLED TV that you can see through and uses LG’s wireless video and audio transmission tech to transmit data wirelessly. The television can easily blend with the interior décor making it less obvious that you have a television in the space until it's switched on. The LG Signature OLED T does have some commercial applications for advertising displays in shop windows.
Samsung Glare-Free OLED TV
Many of us have suffered some kind of glare issue depending on whether you have a reflection from external light sourcing disrupting your viewing experience. To eliminate the glare we often turn the lights off or close the blinds on the window to reduce the glare on the TV. However, Samsung looks to solve this problem with its glare-free OLED TV. Samsung’s glare-free TVs use a specialised hard-coating layer and surface coating pattern to deliver the detail of OLED without glare.
Honda Zero
Honda announced a new global electric vehicle series called Honda Zero. Honda Zero will follow three principles Thin, Light and Wise. Honda looks to break the recent trend of big bulky electric cars with a “thin” vehicle architecture with a low floor through its Honda Zero vehicles. In line with this concept, they have shown off a new H-mark logo that will feature exclusively on its next-generation electric vehicles.
In the announcement, they have shown off two concepts. The first concept called The Saloon features a sloping fastback shape with unique rectangular lights in the front and rear. The vehicle looks to ride low to the ground giving a profile similar to a sports car.
The second concept they announced was the Space Hub which resembles a minivan. The Space Hub will include a large panoramic moonroof that curves over on the side. Inside features two bench seats facing each other that potentially could show that potential autonomous shuttle service use case in the future. There is no rear window therefore the driver will rely on cameras to see the back of the vehicle.
Hyundai Mobis E-Corner System
Have you ever struggled to parallel park a car or do a U-turn on a road and ever thought that a car going sideways or spinning around would fix your everyday struggles? Hyundai has heard your prayers and shown off its Mobis E-Corner system. The driver can select several manoeuvres such as “Crab Driving” to go sideways, “Zero Turn” to spin in place, “Pivot Turn” to slide out the rear in a controlled drift, and so on. Everything is via a touch of a button with the driver not needing to steer each wheel. The vehicle will have several cameras, sensors and projectors to warn others how the car is moving.

BMW Augmented Reality Ride Concept
BMW have unveiled their augmented reality ride concept that looks to enhance the ride experience for either the passenger or driver. Utilising Xreal Air 2 augmented reality glasses objects start appearing in your vision such as arrows, current speed, an indication of whether there is a car alongside, and among other things. With so many things to look out for when driving it can be overwhelming when using your sat nav while navigating the roads in front of you. The Augmented Reality Ride concept looks to help with that by putting all that information in the augmented world to enable the passenger and driver to focus and enjoy the journey to the destination with ease.

Kia PBV
Kia unveiled their Platform Beyond Vehicles for ride-hailing. The PBV sees a family of electric vehicles built on a flexible vehicle architecture with different swappable body types. PBV vehicles can be transformed from a minivan to a full-size van to a small truck depending on the need. The drive cab remains fixed while the rest of the vehicle is interchangeable allowing for adaptability to the use case.
Dexcom Stelo
Dexcom unveiled their affordable Stelo continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for Type 2 diabetics who don’t need to take insulin. The Stelo looks to educate how to best use blood glucose data in managing their condition day to day. The main idea of the Stelo is to make it affordable for diabetics to monitor their glucose even if their insurance does not cover the use of a CGM which can be expensive to acquire.
Ballie
Announced by Samsung in 2020, it now comes with a few upgrades and now it doubles as a moving projector. Ballie can projector workout video on your wall or project a little greeting message on your floor when you arrive home. Ballie can check your pets and manage home appliances.
Rabbit R1
Launched at the CES event, the Rabbit R1 looks to be a standalone AI companion device that you take with you and do things without ever needing your phone. It would be interesting to see what it is capable of in real-world situations. Privacy concerns could be an issue so it would be interesting for the company to combat this.

Evie Smart Ring
Oura rings have been the go-to wearable ring however at CES 2024 see a player in town called the Evie Smart Ring. Developed by Movano Health, the Evie was designed with women’s health in mind. Evie automatically tracks your sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and steps. You can manually add details about your workout and log energy levels and period. The Evie should last several days before it needs a charge. There is no screen to ping you notifications or stats all the data is shown inside the app. The Evie is designed to be unobtrusive so it tracks your health without you thinking about it. The Evie will come in three finished silver, gold, and rose gold and will only be available on iOS initially with Android support soon.
Asus Zenbook Duo
Asus refreshes its Zenbook Duo series with a new 2024 model. The 2024 Zenbook Duo features the world’s first 14-inch dual-screen OLED laptop. The Zenbook Duo features two 14-inch 3k resolution touchscreens with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screens are attached via a 180-degree hinge allowing you to lay them down flat. The laptop comes with an Asus ErgoSense keyboard that can be removed and used wirelessly via a Bluetooth connection.
MSI Claw
MSI attempts to take on Valve’s Steam Deck with the MSI Claw. Powered by Intel’s Meteor Lake Core Ultra Processor that can be equipped up to Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. MSI plans to ship three models ranging from $699 to $799. The base tier will ship with Core Ultra 5 and 512GB of storage. Other manufacturers are looking to take the handheld gaming sector but MSI feels its use of the latest Intel processor which supports Intel’s XeSS upscaling technology. MSI claims that the Claw should be able to play AAA titles effortlessly. The 53Wh battery offers two hours of battery life.
