Sony A6700: New APS-C Mirrorless Camera

After 4 years of Sony’s last APS-C mirrorless camera release, Sony has unveiled their new mirrorless camera the Sony A6700. The A6700 brings in AI-powered autofocus enhancements from the full frame line-up to its APS-C mirrorless line-up.

The A6700 succeeds the 2019 A6600 will have a 26-megapixel sensor which will offer 4K at 120fps providing a major improvement from the 30fps of its predecessor. The biggest upgrade to the ASP-C line-up is the AI processing and autofocus enhancement from the A7R V camera. Due to AI processing, the camera will be able to detect what subject you are looking at. Sony has added 334 more phase-detect autofocus points which will speed up the autofocusing process.

Sony A6700

Sony has changed the LCD to a vari-angle style touchscreen which will be a big improvement for videographers and the new screen has a 33-degree wider viewing angle than the A6600. The A6700 also have an OLED screen that is twice as bright. The A6700 have connectivity improvements seeing the model receiving a USB-C port that supports fast charging and a new customisable front dial.  

For many waiting 4 years for the A6700 will see this model as a major improvement from A6600. The A6700 is better for content creators, vloggers, or anyone wanting to capture professional-looking pictures and videos at a lower price. For those that are on the older models, it will be a big step up from those older generations and many who have resisted in the past could see this as their next camera. The A6700 is priced at £1449 making it a similar price point when the A6600 was released.
