Google I/O 2023
Google’s I/O keynote included several major announcements, especially in the artificial intelligence market along with 3 new Pixel devices.
Artificial Intelligence
Android OS
Android OS will be getting AI features such as Magic Compose that will live within the Android Messages app and will give you the ability to reply to texts using responses suggested by AI. Another feature is that you can let AI create your wallpaper by describing the image you want and the device will be able to generate the wallpaper using Google’s text-to-image diffusion model.
AI Snapshot
Google search will get an additional feature added called AI Snapshots. Once opted into the Search Generative Experience (SGE) feature, you will start seeing AI-powered answers at the top of your search for some queries that can provide more context for your search. You will be able to narrow down the information in the snapshot with follow-up questions. This feature could speed up the way we look for facts and information in a split second.
Bard
Bard is Google’s AI-powered chatbot which has been made available to everyone if you were on the waitlist. Google have also included support for Japanese and Korean languages and easier methods to export generated text to Google Docs and Gmail.
Magic Editor
Google Photos is getting an AI-powered editing feature that will be able to make significant edits to a photo such as enhancing the sky, moving a person or object, and getting rid of people in the background.
Duet AI for Workspace
Google announced a new name for its suite of AI tools it’s bringing to Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Gmail called Duet AI. These features are currently only available to those who sign up for its waitlist.
Wear OS 4
Google announced its next version of Wear OS that will improve battery life, back up and restore watches, and new accessibility features. Wear OS 4 will get improved smart home integrations that allow you to adjust lighting and control media from your watch. Wear OS 4 is currently in developer preview.
Pixel Devices
With many rumours circulating about the expected Pixel Devices to be announced at this year’s Google I/O, Google announced the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 7A.

As expected, Google announced their first entry into the foldable devices with the Pixel Fold.
