Microsoft 365 Copilot

At the “Future of Work” event, Microsoft unveiled an AI-powered Microsoft 365 Copilot that can create content in Office apps using text. Microsoft Copilot was created to reduce the hours spent on mundane admin tasks and free up time on tasks that spark creativity and joy. Copilot is integrated into Microsoft 365 by working alongside you and embedded in Microsoft 365 apps.

Microsoft Word

Copilot can write, edit, summarise and create alongside you. Microsoft Copilot can create a first draft for you, bringing in information from across your organisation as needed. Copilot is also able to add content to existing documents, and rewrite sections or entire documents to make them more concise. You can suggest the correct tone for Copilot to write in to strike the right tone with your audience.

Microsoft Excel

Copilot will work alongside you to help analyse and explore your data. When asked about your dataset in natural language, it can reveal correlations, propose what-if scenarios, and suggest new formulas based on your question. Copilot can generate new models based on your questions, identify trends, and give recommendations to drive different outcomes.

Summary

By developing Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft hopes to remove mundane administrative tasks and free up more time on important tasks we can make a big impact on. The integration of Copilot across the Microsoft 365 product will enable you to draw information from multiple places to create reports or presentations. The ability of Copilot to help get you up to speed with missed Microsoft Teams conversations will decrease the time to catch up on long conversations and help identify group conversation that needs your input. Microsoft Copilot does have a lot of potential but will rely on users to use the wide variety of products offered by Microsoft 365.
