Electric Cars in 2022
In the past year, many vehicle manufacturers announced their plans for electric vehicle modes and production facilities. 2022 is expected to be the year of electric cars with many new and traditional manufacturers expected to release their electric vehicles. Consumers will be spoilt for choice when they consider taking the plunge into the electric vehicle world. The price point for many will be a major factor in whether they can move to electric vehicles. With Tesla currently leading the electric vehicle market, other manufacturers look to take up some of the electric vehicle markets before it gets crowded. As countries look to decrease carbon emissions and investors push for companies to build electrics, we will see more electric cars being released in the market this year than before.
Here are some electric cars that are expected to be released this year:
Audi A6 E-Tron
First shown at Auto Shanghai 2021, the Audi A6 E-Tron will have a range of 430 miles and will be able to go 0-62mhp under four seconds. The car has two electric motors which combined can produce 469hp.
Volkswagen ID.5
The ID.5 will be Volkswagen’s largest electric vehicle taking on a family-friendly, mid-size SUV form that is priced around £47,000. The vehicle will have a range of up to 323 miles and will be able to charge to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Ford F-150 Lightning
The release of Ford’s electric vehicle of their best-selling model will be a huge deal. The pickup truck will have 563hp and 775 pound-feet of torque provided by dual electric motors. The truck will offer either 230 miles or 300 miles of range.
GMC Hummer EV
The recognisable Hummer is entering the electric vehicle world. The monstrous vehicle has three electric motors that are capable of producing 1000hp which will see the car launch from 0-60 in three seconds. The Hummer EV will have a respectable 350miles per charge. The vehicle can fast charge and gain 100miles in 10minutes.
Lucid Air
After years of development, Lucid Motors will finally release the Lucid Air which has a range of 520 miles range. This will make the Lucid Air the longest-range electric car on the road beating Tesla by more than 100 miles. The Lucid Air will have a top speed of 168mph.
Rivian R1T
The Rivian R1T is an all-terrain vehicle that has four motors which combined will provide 835hp with an estimated range of 314 miles. The car will be able to tow up to 11,000Ibs (4989Kg).
Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y provides a taller and roomie electric vehicle than the popular Tesla Model 3. The Model Y provides a large rear hatchback for easier access to the boot and larger storage space under the bonnet. The Model Y offers 315 miles range.
Lotus Evija
Lotus will start delivering its £2m Evija hypercar to its 130 lucky customers. The Evija produces 2,000hp from its quad motor. The car will be able to go from 0-60mhp in under three seconds with a top speed of 200mph. The Lotus Evija will have a range of 215miles.
