Known to many to manufacturing gaming-related PC, laptops, and computer peripherals, it has come as a surprise for many that Razer has created a medical-grade wearable mask. The mask will feature a surgical N95 respirator, active ventilation, and auto sterilization function to help tackle bacteria and viruses. The design of the Razer mask will incorporate a clear transparent design to enable more social interaction, with a built-in light mode so individuals can still express themselves regardless of lighting conditions. There is also a built-in mic and amplifier to ensure speech is not muffled when wearing the mask. The mask is built to be sustainable with replaceable filters, rechargeable ventilators, charging case with UV Steriliser, and a durable design for daily use. At the moment this is a concept but would be interesting to see the outcome of Project Hazel.

Razer Project Brooklyn

The gaming chair has a deployable 60” rollout full surround OLED display for the total panoramic experience. There is also a compact, collapsible table tucked into the armrest for gamers’ keyboard and mice. Within the chair itself, it has Razer’s Hypersense Technology which provides tactile feedback from the game, giving you total immersion within a game. The chair itself is manufactured from carbon fibre and high-density foam to support the body shape. Cadillac EVTOL

General Motors surprised a lot of people with the unveiled of their Cadillac branded electric-powered personal aircraft. The sleek electric aircraft is capable of vertical take-off and landing. The aircraft features four rotors and is powered by a 90-kWh battery to deliver speeds up to 56 mph. Not a lot was unveiled however this is a concept but a lot of issues will need to be thought out before this becomes mass market such as safety, rules of the skies for personal electric-powered aircraft and landing zones for these vehicles.

LG Transparent OLED Display

Transparent display technologies have slowly emerged from the likes of LG over the years but this year LG highlighted the wide variety of applications for this new technology. Here are a couple of applications:

Smart Bed

At the end of the bed, there is a partition that houses a 55-inch transparent display. When closed, part of it is exposed to show basic information such as the time and date. When fully extended you can consume media while seeing through the screen, the display can be partially extended to show more information such as the weather or music being played.

Restaurant Display

Transparent displays can be in a restaurant setting and can have a dual purpose. The transparent display can act as a partition between employees and customer, especially in today’s COVID-19 climate. However, the transparent display can offer functionality to the partition enabling customers to browse and order food. While the customers wait or even during eating they can indulge themselves by watching a TV programme. The display itself is 40% transparent allowing customers to see the chefs working away.

Window

LG showed its application on public transportation such as trains where the display are integrated into windows. Commuters will be able to see the transportation map, news, and weather while on their journey and seeing the scenery as well. One thing to see in this method of application is how the display will adapt to bright days, especially in the summer months.

Rollable Phones (LG and TCL)

With the emergence of foldable display technology, manufacturers are in a battle to become the first within the market. The likes of Samsung emerging to be the leaders of the folding smartphone market. Manufacturers are experimenting with other display concepts such as the rollable display smartphones. LG and TCL both unveiled their rollable smartphones, paving way for a new market hoping to be the first to lead the market.

Samsung BOT Handy

At this year’s CES 2021, Samsung’s focus has been on the smart home and this year they showcased their BOT Handy that features one arm and AI technologies to become the robotic butler of the future. The robot has 3D mapping technology built-in allowing it to navigate around the home. Using its one arm it can pick up objects and can recognise the shape, weight, and size to apply enough pressure to pick up the item. The robot can pour wine into a glass without smashing the wine bottle, place a flower into the flowerpot and is capable of loading or unloading the dishwasher. BOT Handy can adjust its height for those tasks that need a greater reach.

Kohler Stillness Bath

The stillness bath costs $16,000 and is inspired by the Japanese forest baths. The Kohler Stillness Bath is designed to create an immersive experience to help relax the mind, soothe the body, and renew the spirit. The Stillness Bath comes as a freestanding bath however for a more immersive experience you can get the Stillness Infinity. This experience allows the water to fill from the bottom and overflow into the Hinoki wood mote and creating a soothing sound. Arlo Touchless Video Doorbell

Over recent months, many of us have been staying at home and ordering online which means you get many delivery drivers touching the doorbell. One way to counteract the problem is the Arlo Touchless Video Doorbell. Ultimately, a doormat drives this doorbell where the visitor is required to stand on the mat for a couple of seconds to activate the doorbell. The homeowner will get a video feed and can communicate with the visitor or delivery person to drop the package. The doorbell is built on the response of the COVID-19 pandemic and can help reduce the spread of viruses and contributes to the ever-growing of touchless technologies.
