Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+
Samsung has unveiled its new Samsung Note 10 series at their unpacked event. There are two types of Note 10 due for release on the 23rd August, the Samsung Note 10 and Samsung Note 10+.
Display
The Samsung Note 10 sports a 6.3-inch AMOLED Infinity –O display with full HD resolution while the Note 10+ is equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED Infinity-O QHD display, where both displays support HDR10+. Both also support an embedded fingerprint scanner under the screen just like the S10 and S10 plus line up.
Design
Both Samsung Notes have rounded edges in the rear, allowing the phone to sit comfortably in the hand with the back of the phone made of glass while the frame is constructed out of metal giving the phone a premium feel. The Note 10 series has a USB-C connector on the bottom alongside the S Pen, while the right-side is the location of the volume rocker and power button. Bixby is integrated into the power button, therefore to activate Bixby you have to hold the power button for a couple of seconds. The Note 10 is IP68 water and dust resistant so the Note 10 will be able to survive depth of up to 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes.
Camera
Both Note 10s feature an Infinity O display which has a centralised hole punch for the 10MP selfie camera at the top of the display. In the rear, they both feature a triple camera set up that combines a 12MP wide-angle with a variable aperture that switches between f/1.4 and f/2.4 to capture images, 16MP ultra-wide with a 123° field of view and a 12MP telephoto camera. The only difference is as the Note 10+ features a DepthVision camera, Samsung states that the system will offer better bokeh style blur behind the subject in photos and videos. The system will also accurately measure distances or placing computer-generated objects in the real world using Augmented Reality apps.
Specs
The Note 10 is packed with a 3,500mAh battery while the Note 10+ comes with a bigger 4,300mAH capacity. In order to cater to the slim design and bigger battery, Samsung has ditched the 3.5mm headphone. The Note 10 is powered by an 8GB RAM paired with a 256GB storage. The Galaxy Note 10+ packs 12GB of RAM with a choice of 256GB or 512GB onboard storage. Only the Note 10+ has an option with expandable storage via Micro SD up to 1TB. Both phones feature a Wireless PowerShare that allows any Qi-compatible gadget by placing it on the back of the handset. The Galaxy Note 10+ also has the new 45W wired charging which, according to Samsung, means that a 30-minute charge will provide enough power to last an entire day.
Overall
The Samsung Note 10 gives an excellent all-round smartphone experience for those that like a big display for media consumption. The improved design with the incorporation of the Infinity-O display improves viewing experience over the Samsung Galaxy S10 line up without the obstruction of the cutout. Equipped with top specs, the Samsung Note 10 and 10+ will be a top pick for any smartphone user on the go.
